That's Appropriate

I just want to describe how I spent my afternoon...

I was sitting on the couch reading the latest issue of Dazed & Confused & listening to Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here on vinyl. Meanwhile the smell of dad's burning cigar wafted through the windows, then he muttered, "That's appropriate", just as 'Have A Cigar' began to play. Mum sat in the lounge reading One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. It was perfection.

Unfortunately I don't yet have my own copy of Wish You Were Here, instead I played my friend Callum's, & it plays beautifully.

Whenever I hear 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' it immediately reminds me of when I saw this unbelievably, totally believable Pink Floyd tribute band. I had actually never heard the song until that night & I recall just being so completely immersed in the environment. I was so relaxed, & light headed, & mesmerised. It was so pitch black, just with coloured lasers flashing in your eyes every now & then. Someone on stage, most likely the keyboard player, was smoking weed. It may have been someone in the wings, but I would like to believe that it was the guy on keys. The smoke was fairly significant, wafting from that left wing & then dispersing into the crowd.
I think a good night was had by all.

Cold Dinner, Chain Smoker

Today's mag collection consisted of Dazed & Confused, Yen, Another Man, & Cream.
The cover for Another Man is wicked - Jack White wearing a top hat & heaps of feathers. He looks so much like Johnny Depp in it. Actually, throughout the mag it has the coolest photos I've ever seen of him.

The interview with Jack is the best interview I have ever read, very, very good.
I would recommend that whoever reads this crappy blog, go & buy it! But seeing as though I'm most likely the only person who will read this, I already have it...

My friend at the record shop gave me a copy of Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse - 'Dark Night Of The Soul', definitely something I wouldn't usually listen to simply because of Danger Mouse & his association with Jay-Z haha. But this album is pretty awesome. All the songs are with different artists like Julian Casablancas, Iggy Pop, Flaming Lips, part of Neutral Milk Hotel & some more.

I read a lot of magazines. One thing that I have noticed for the past few months now, is somewhere in each mag is something associated with Tame Impala, & it's still going. From 2 months before Innerspeaker was released & now 2 months after, they're still appearing everywhere. They're just going to keep getting bigger & bigger & BIGGER until they explode & break up & grow old & pursue completely different lifestyles & reminisce of the old times before drugs & cats ruined their lives.

Anyway, the IMPALA BOYZZZ are touring some more & they will be in Brisbane in October & I think I have decided, at this stage, that I will go & see them again. I wouldn't mind seeing them in Melbourne though, that would be good I think. Tickets went on sale today so I'll have to make up my mind very soon.

Don't Slouch

Alright, I've been posting too many things on here, one would think I have too much time on my hands. Actually, it's not that at all, it's because I'm not going to bed until some god-awful hour of the morning & I just sit on this thing either watching The Office or laughing hysterically at Failblog.

I've just had to delete all my videos off of Facebook because I got some late-night infringement notice for the oldest video on there. It took them just short of 2 months to advise me that "Your video (not title) that was uploaded May 31... yada yada yada... INFRINGEMENT!!"

Ahh well, it was only a matter of time. & to be honest, I hadn't even thought about the whole using someone else's music & stealing it thing hahaa. Stupid me, I was really only thinking of the footage - it's only of me & people I know so this should be fine. HA!

Zoe

I finally got a pair of these mammoth beasts!

Elbows Are Sharper Than Knives

I bought these yesterday...

So majority of my time was spent smiling stupidly at stuff white people like because so much of it is true & oh so predictable, it's laughable.

For instance, 117 - Premium Juice: The ideal white-person juice costs between $3 & $6, contains a blend of organic fruit, & is infused with some sort of vitamin or medicinal herb. There are some instances where the juice is simply that of a single fruit, but in those cases it must be a fruit that seems difficult to juice - pomegranate, for example.
I find this funny because it's so relatable. In my fridge at the moment there are about 5 bottles of pomegranate tea & the spectacular apple juice that I had mentioned in a previous entry. I love it.

I also enjoyed 84 - T-shirts: The T-shirt is one of the most complex & expressive items in their entire wardrobe. T-shirts fall into 3 categories: vintage, new, & unacceptable. Within each category lies another, more precise subset of rules & rankings. This is complicated, make no mistake.
The most prized t-shirt category is vintage. Ownership of an original vintage t-shirt from the 70s or 80s is a very powerful social status symbol. The ideal shirt will have a funny logo, a year attached to it, & it will be as thin as rice paper. In the event that 2 white people have shirts that meet this criteria, the superior ranking is given to the person who paid the least for the shirt.

The nose-picking book is not as exciting as I though it might have been.
& the Bob Dylan bio is jam-packed with heaps of awesome photos - 200 to be exact.

Blehh

No more coffee for me!!

Yesterday I was in ruins. I had a lot of coffee. 4 big ones in about 3 & a half hours.
I was halfway through my fourth when I started to sweat, like a hot & cold flush. My heart was pounding out of my chest. It was pounding all over the place. Started feeling woozy, short of breath, gonna spew...
It settled down some, but my heart was still beating so fast & I couldn't calm it down. I kept getting like flashes of adrenaline, you know, like when you think of something that makes you nervous & you get the big butterflies... well I kept getting that for no reason. Even when I got home from work & went to bed, my heart was beating all out of whack it felt. I was going to go to the docs today, but that just freaks me out haha.

Fuck that, I don't want to feel that ever again.

So hopefully it's just the coffee, nothing else...

Twisted tree.

The shell of a spider.

All gone.

Bird bath.

Big blue ocean.

The moon is right above the tip of the sugar shaker.

Teapot

I'm a bit behind the times & it has only just come to my attention that a song I like by Earthless called Cherry Red, is actually a cover from a band called Groundhog. They're a pretty good listen.
Also, check out what I believe must have been the inspiration for Tame Impala's Solitude Is Bliss album art...

I came across this clip on Tame Impala's page - this man has some serious dance skills.

I listened to The Darkness the other day, something I haven't done in a long time. God, I looooved them so much...

Victor

This is an immortal apple that I have had sitting on my desk at work for 2 & a half weeks now. It has no sign of rot whatsoever. People want me to throw it out. I say, "No."

Soft

"There is always a moment in your life when you realise everything in it, is different to what it was.
It's only there - after a massive amount of mistakes, happy moments, & anger episodes - when you realise, it is you who needs to change.

I'm human, therefore I will always be evolving.

I am what I decide to be.

& you are welcome to take my hand & walk beside me through this journey called life.

Just always know, that I love you... with all my heart."
