Get A Life

The Innerspeaker vinyl has been delayed so I received a code to download the album for the time being - it's fantastic!!
I especially like 'I Don't Really Mind' because when I saw them last week, both Tame Impala & The Silents got on stage & they were all dancing & were really into it & it just kept going & going. I prefer the live version much more because of that vision it conjures.

Today I got this book about Kurt Cobain called Cobain Unseen. I'm not the hugest fan, but for some reason I'm fascinated with his story - he was so disturbed & so talented & majority of his life has been captured in his writings. This book though is amazing! It has little pull out bits, photos, journal pages, drawings, & a CD of his rants.

I have the flu, or it seems more-so, a severe case of hayfever. It's crappy because it always seems to happen when I have days off, not when I'm at work.
I also have whiplash from jumping out of a tree that was a lot higher than I thought... so with this, I haven't been able to go for a good ride on my skateboard.

I need to get a new belt for the turn table, which I plan on doing tomorrow. Then for the rest of the day, just sitting & listening to all my new records - I think that sounds like a great idea.

Going to have a pot of tea.

Obscured By Clouds

I got my magazine batch today, which consisted of Spook & iD. Spook is sweet because is has an interview with Jack Lawrence [LJ] & Alison Mosshart, with a nice photo of Mr White on the back cover - quite frankly I think he should have been on the front, but nevermind.

Today I got a Stylophone. Wooooooo!! I can play The White Stripes - In The Cold, Cold Night, MGMT - Kids, The Killers - Somebody Told Me, Michael Jackson - Beat It, oh & Hedwigs Theme. It's awesome.

This is my new [but old] guitar...

& this is my new set of wheels...

Jefferson Airplane - The Worst Of Jefferson Airplane
The Isley Borthers & Jimi Hendrix - In The Beginning
The Beatles - Abbey Road
Pink Floyd - Obscured By Clouds
Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother

Led Zeppelin - Presence
Led Zeppelin - CODA
Rolling Stones - Highwire [7-inch]
Dragon - Young Years [7-inch]

We met The Silents, who were absolute babes!

Motivation

So it's apparent that a longboard is going to be an inevitable purchase in the near future.
Shred til dead. Man.

I see the Tame Impala boyz in only 5 days. For the third time. Super excited about it. They're playing at The Tivoli which is meant to be a pretty neat venue - an old restored theatre.
& I like this photo of them - though I'm not sure who the other guy on guitar is...

Then once I'm back from Brisbane, I head down to Mackay the following day. I haven't been there in soo long, like 14 months. So that should be good.

I read this the other day...

It's pretty straight forward & obvious what it's about. Very quick read, but it's a best-seller. As it says on the back - "He [Paul Arden] gives original & logical answers to everyday questions. Much of it appears obvious when you read it, but aren't all questions easy when you know the answers?" It was pretty good.

I fell asleep on my desk at work yesterday. It was a triumph. I held out for most of the day, then it got the last hour - I couldn't take much more, the guy next to me was trying to keep me awake by talking about manga, which just made me more sleepy because he was so into it, but every story he spoke of had the exact same story line, so I just rested my head & went to sleep. Then he shook me so hard it gave me a headache. Arsehole.

After being pushed off the road & up onto the median strip the other day, I wanted to vouch that I would never drive again - I couldn't though because driving is kind of inevitable. I wanted to either walk or ride a bicycle around town. Just take hours to get to places, always arrive late, sweat & stink like a vagabond, constantly pant like I've been smoking a pack a day for 15 years - that sort of thing. But the following day I was back in the car, on the stinkin' road, driving to work.

I have considered this no car thing for some time & found a company in Italy - Abici - that makes some lovely bikes, they look old but they're new & very expensive. I don't want to spend a lot on a bike that I'm probably going to spend more time crashing than riding.
